Nice work on the subject matter, let me offer a critique however. This is a lovely poster that represents muted colours atypical of B.C, which are in full bloom in a Kafkian anti-philosophical view in an everlasting cosmic struggle of Pankration proportions. Never vague and/or bland that adds an emotional element if the intention is to resolve an inner torment that disguises itself as pure joy. However, most critics would automatically point out that it does not come close to Vincent Van Gogh's IRISES which was not just a mere painting but a triumph of the soul ( http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/overstockart_1988_94188259 ). The master, doing a retro-impersonation of Holyfield after fighting Tyson, painted this masterpiece when he was a permanent guest/concierge at the insane asylum Saint Paul-de-Mausole in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France in 1890. This advertising poster does have its critics, perhaps deservedly so but, to be fair, it also has its admirers. It will find a home with those who seek solace in the mural painting from the Takamatsuzuka Tomb in Japan. These individuals will identify with the complex colours and positioning of each subject in relation to quantum mechanical paradoxes that would have made Erwin Schrödinger turn green with envy.
This MMA work was commissioned by Anton von Kotc and to the uninitiated, makes a mockery of Marchel Duchamp and the cubist movement. A fraternity of proto-geeks which was represented by the Puteaux Group. Sure not the coolest of guys, but man could those boys kill a good time.
The spacial control in this poster, the utter most painstaking attention to light shadow and angular representation makes one fondly recall the works of Leonardo de Vinci. Not a bad effort and one that should, perhaps in time, finds its own niche with the William-Adolphe Bouguereau crowd.
Post Script: Be sure to watch the 8 1/2 hour "Gold Rush Poster" discussion on CBC next Sunday at 12:30 pm Eastern Time - 9:30 am Pacific Time. The panel will consist of the pro-poster in the form of Angelina Joline, Craig McTavish and Tony Blair. The anti-poster panelists are: Paris Hilton, Dr. David Susuki and Al Franken.
